Step 1 – Introduction
Every collaboration begins with an introduction, during which mutual expectations are discussed, along with the intended goals and, of course, the product or service. There is also an examination of what the client is already doing in terms of video content, to ensure that the new production aligns with the existing content. Based on this, a plan of action is formulated to efficiently achieve a successful end result.
Deliverable: Plan of Action
Step 2 – Preparation
In the second phase, the framework for the production is established, creating an overview of all relevant aspects of the product. This is based on the discussions held and is supplemented, where possible, with existing information and literature from the client. Following this, a session will be scheduled between Indall and the client (either in person or virtually) to discuss all these points, their impact on the product, and how they can best be visualized. Often, a 3D CAD model is already available, and its applicability is checked during this phase. Additionally, a proposal for the intended style is presented through a mood board or example videos.
Deliverable: Concept Proposal, including the guiding principles and directions
Step 3 – Script
All information and knowledge from Step 2 are processed into a script that addresses all points. If necessary, the voice-over text will also be created and a suitable voice will be discussed. Additionally, all requirements and conditions for the film (intended use, maximum length, resolution, etc.) will be aligned in this phase. This script serves as the foundation of the film and must be approved by the client. Any significant adjustments made at a later stage can be time-consuming and therefore costly.
Deliverable: Script, which serves as the basis for the video
Step 4 – Animatic
Based on the script, the pre-editing is done. Depending on the scope and project, this may consist of a timeline with a style frame or reference image for each scene, or an initial concept of the film in which all movements, elements, and camera angles are created. However, the material properties are usually not yet added, allowing for quick adjustments. This edit is also accompanied by audio (music, sound design, and/or voice-over) to clarify the tone-of-voice and overall feeling. This animatic provides a good impression of the final product, and it is crucial for the client to check that all elements are mentioned and displayed correctly. This is the phase where adjustments can still be relatively easily implemented.
Deliverable: Animatic, with the appropriate tone-of-voice
